Surya Bakery & Confectionery Pvt.Ltd. is based at the head office in Hakimwada. It’s right behind the Loksatta Press and the Nishant Complex in the Nagarwada area. It’s a bit tucked away in the lanes, but we’ve been here long enough that most people know exactly where to find us. Since we handle bakery and confectionery items, there’s usually a specific rhythm to our day that depends on the clock. Everything has to happen at certain times. The office can get a bit warm because of the climate here and the way the building is set up. We don’t have a flashy lobby or any fancy reception area. It’s just a workspace where we manage the orders and keep the books. The staff often shares tea in the afternoons while we go over the delivery schedules for the next day. We don't use a lot of big words or have long-winded plans. We just check what needs to be baked or shipped and we do it. Being near the press means there’s always some activity around us, even late at night when things are usually quiet elsewhere. We’ve stayed in this Nagarwada spot because it’s where we started and it works for our needs. It’s not perfect, but it’s our place and we know every corner of it. We just focus on the daily grind and making sure the accounts stay balanced at the end of the month.
