Spectoms

Spectoms is over in the G.I.D.C. Estate in Makarpura. If you’ve ever been to unit 113, you know it’s just a standard industrial shed like the others around it. We spend most of our mornings just getting the machines warmed up and checking the schedule. It’s dusty work, and the fans never seem to move the air quite enough when it gets hot in the afternoons. Most of the guys here have been with us for years, so we don't have to talk much to know what needs doing next. We handle various technical tasks and industrial bits, though it's mostly just routine stuff day in and day out. The road outside is usually blocked by some delivery truck or another, which can be a bit of a headache when we’re trying to leave. We don’t have a big reception or anything like that. Just a small office corner with a couple of chairs that have seen better days. People come in with orders, we write them down, and we get to work. It’s a simple way of doing things, but it’s how we’ve always functioned. Sometimes we have tea together in the mid-morning, which is usually the only time it's quiet. We aren’t trying to be the biggest place in the estate, just a steady one that stays busy enough to keep the lights on and everyone paid. That’s pretty much the whole story of Spectoms.
