Setting up Shreenath Moorti Art on the Vadodara Main Road was a choice made because of how much traffic passes by. We are situated right opposite Lakkadpitha. If you spend any time here, you’ll notice the smell of wood and the sound of sawing from across the street. It’s a very practical neighborhood. My hands are usually covered in some kind of dust or material because that’s just the nature of what we do. It’s not a clean, polished office environment. We have pieces of work in different stages of completion sitting on the floor and on the benches. People stop their scooters to take a look at what’s new out front. The noise from the main road is constant, but you get used to it after a week or two. I’ve lived in Vadodara all my life and I like being in the thick of it. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting room. Usually, you just walk in and find me working in the back. The sun shines directly into the workshop in the mornings, which helps with seeing the fine details. We take it one day at a time, making things that people want for their homes or shrines. It’s a bit messy and crowded in here, but it’s a real place where real things get made by hand.
