Sarjan Art Gallery

Our space is located in Alkapuri, specifically on Sant Sena Maharaj Marg 1. It is a quiet street most of the time, which fits what we do here. I spend a lot of my mornings just moving frames around or trying to get the lighting right on a specific wall. Art is a funny thing because it looks different depending on the time of day. Sometimes I sit at the front desk and just watch people walk past the window. We get local artists coming in with their work wrapped in old newspapers or bubble wrap. We spend a lot of time talking about where things should hang. The walls have a lot of small holes from all the nails we’ve put in over the years. We just patch them up and keep going. It isn't a huge place, so you have to be careful not to bump into things. I usually have a cup of tea while I wait for someone to come in and look around. People ask questions about the colors or who painted what, and I tell them what I know. We don't have a big corporate team, just us keeping the floors swept and the glass clean. Dust is the biggest enemy in a gallery, so there is always a rag in my hand. It is a slow pace of life on Sant Sena Maharaj Marg, and that’s fine by us at Sarjan Art Gallery.
