The Arts

Our business, The Arts, is located at Plot No. 78-2-7 in the Gidc Ind. Estate. It’s an interesting name for a place in an industrial area, I know. People often ask if we paint pictures, but we are more about making things with our hands and machines. The workshop is a mix of different materials and bits of leftovers from various projects. It’s not the cleanest place in the world, as there is always some dust or shavings from whatever we are working on that day. We have a few workbenches that have been around since we started, scarred with scratches and old marks. The lighting isn't great, but we have some movable lamps for when we need to see the details clearly. Being in Gidc means we are surrounded by heavy industry, so having a place called The Arts feels a bit different. We don’t have a big staff, just a few of us who have a knack for putting things together. We spend a lot of time measuring and then re-measuring because mistakes are expensive. We don’t put out brochures or have a fancy website. Most people find us through word of mouth or just by seeing our sign when they drive through the estate. It’s a quiet life of making things, day in and day out, and we like it that way. We just keep the door open and stay busy with our tools.
