Saint Basil School

You can find us near the Makarpura Jakatnaka, right by the Jambuva area. It’s a busy corner of Vadodara, and Saint Basil School has been sitting here for quite a while. The address says Number 2, and most people around here can point you to the gate if you get lost. It’s a solid building, nothing too modern, but it does the job. We have different sections for the kids and a lot of stairs that keep us all fit. The noise from the main road is always there in the background, like a hum you just get used to after a week or two. We don’t spend money on big advertisements or billboards. Most families find us because their cousins or neighbors came here first. The classrooms are full of charts that the teachers made by hand. It’s not a perfect place—the gate sometimes sticks when it rains and the paint could use a touch-up in the hallways—but it’s where we spend our lives. We have a routine that starts early and ends when the sun is high. We see the same faces every morning at the entrance. It’s a very local feel. We just focus on the day-to-day stuff, making sure the kids have their books and the teachers have their chalk. It’s a simple life here in the Makarpura area, and we are fine with that. It's just a regular school day for us.
