Hill Memorial High School

Hill Memorial High School sits right near the Pavilion and Highway Number 8 in Vadodara. If you live in Fatehgunj, you probably pass by us quite often on your way to work. The location is convenient but it does get very loud with the trucks going by on the highway all day long. We’ve been operating out of this building for many years. It has that old school feel to it, with thick walls and heavy doors that sometimes creak when the wind hits them. Our day usually starts around 7:30 in the morning. We spend a lot of time just making sure the kids stay focused because the world outside is so busy and distracting. The hallway gets crowded between classes and you can hear the echoes of sneakers on the floor and teachers calling out instructions. We have a small area for snacks and some trees out front that give a bit of shade in the afternoons when the sun is hitting the building hard. Most of the teachers have been here for a long time, so we know each other well and we know most of the local families too. We don't have any big fancy gadgets, just chalkboards and books. Sometimes the fans make a clicking noise in the heat, but we just ignore it. Dealing with the paperwork from the education office takes up a lot of our time too. It's just a normal school life in a busy part of the city.
