Sai Shyam

Our place, Sai Shyam, is located on Sola Road, specifically in the Santkawnar Colony area. If you live around here, you know how the traffic can get during the rush hours, but inside the colony, it is a bit more relaxed. We have a small storefront that we open up every morning around nine. It is not a very large space, so we have to be careful about how we stack the boxes and items on the shelves. Most of the time, it is just neighbors stopping by to pick up a few things or just to say hello. We have a wooden counter that has been here since we started, and the paint is peeling a little on the edges. There is a small calendar on the wall that we forget to flip sometimes. We don't really use a computer for everything; we still like writing things down in our register because it feels more solid. My nephew comes in the afternoons to help with the heavy lifting or to run errands. We stay open until the sun goes down and the street lights come on. It is a quiet life, mostly. We know most of the people who walk through the door by their first names. We don't have any big corporate plans or anything like that. We just want to keep the shop running and be a part of the Sola Road community. The floor gets dusty from the street, so we sweep it out often.
