Russian Mobile Shop is right in the Tandalja area. The name usually makes people stop and look twice, but it’s just a name we picked out of nowhere when we started. We have been working out of this small space for quite some time now. Every morning starts with checking the inventory of chargers and earphones. Tandalja is a lively neighborhood, so there is always someone walking by or stopping their bike to ask about a repair. The shop isn't very wide, so when three or four customers come in at once, it feels very cramped and hot inside. We have a wooden bench outside where people sit and wait while we look at their phones. Most of the work involves changing batteries or fixing charging ports that got stuffed with lint. We keep a lot of second-hand phones in the display case because that’s what a lot of people are looking for these days. The lighting inside is a bit bright, but it helps us see the tiny screws inside the handsets. We don't have a fancy website or anything like that. People just know we are here by word of mouth and by seeing the sign. Sometimes the heat gets a bit much, especially in the afternoons when the sun hits the front glass. We just pull the shade down a bit and keep going. It’s a simple way to spend the day, talking to locals and messing around with electronics. We just try to get the jobs done and go home when the sun sets.
