Rang Krupa Novelty Store

I’m over at 72 Malav Shopping Center in Naroda. The address says Naroda Savli, and it’s right near the Kalavadi Circle. It’s a typical shopping center setup. We have Rang Krupa Novelty Store here, which basically means we sell all those random bits and pieces you find in a general store. I’ve got everything from hair pins to small household tools and little decorations. It’s a lot to keep track of. I arrive in the morning, usually a bit late because the traffic near the circle is a total nightmare. I spend the first hour just getting the lights on and making sure the floor is swept clean. It’s a small shop, so if it’s messy, it looks really bad to the customers. I don't have any staff to help me, so I do the selling and the cleaning and the accounts myself. Some days are good and the shop is full of people. Other days I just sit and watch the people walking through the shopping center corridors. I like to keep the items organized by type, but things always get mixed up by the end of the day because people pick things up and put them back in the wrong place. I’ve been in this spot for a few years now. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s steady. I know the other shop owners in the building, and we usually have lunch together. It’s a nice community feeling even if the work is just basic retail.
