We are tucked away near the Alkapuri Club, right in that lane by Alkapuri Society. Being opposite Baroda High School means we see a lot of students and parents walking by every single afternoon. Icon Gift And Party Supply Store is basically a room full of everything you’d need for a birthday or a small get-together. I spend a lot of time untangling ribbons and making sure the cards are in the right slots. It gets messy fast when kids come in after school finishes. The shop has been here a while now. We don't have a big fancy office or anything like that. Just me and a couple of others keeping the shelves stocked. Sometimes we run out of tape or specific colored balloons and have to wait for the delivery guy to show up. It’s a quiet enough area during the day, then it picks up when the club has events. I like being in this part of Alkapuri. It feels more like a neighborhood than a business district. The door squeaks a bit when it's humid, and the light in the back corner sometimes flickers, but it works for us. We just sell stuff people use to celebrate things. It’s practical work. Most people who come in live right around the corner, so we end up chatting about the weather or the traffic on the main road. It is just a local store for local people.
