New Patel Gift Shop & Mobile Gallery sits inside the Jetalpur Masjid Coumpound, which is quite close to the old New India Mill in Sayajigunj. It’s an interesting spot because the area has so much history with the old mill nearby. We handle a bit of everything here. On one hand, we have the mobile gallery where we deal with phones and accessories, and on the other, we have all sorts of gift items. It’s a bit of a tight space because mobiles take up a lot of room with their chargers and boxes. I spend a lot of time talking to people about their phone issues while also trying to help someone pick out a gift for a wedding. It gets quite hot in the compound during the afternoon, but we have a couple of fans that keep the air moving. We aren't some big chain store with matching uniforms; it’s just us in our everyday clothes doing the work. The floor is a bit worn down from people coming in and out, but that’s just how it is. Sometimes the inventory gets a bit jumbled, and I have to spend the whole evening sorting through boxes of mobile covers or decorative items. We’ve been in Sayajigunj for a good while, so we’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit. We just keep our heads down and focus on the shop, making sure everything is ready for the next day.
