New D K S Mobile is located right on Bull Temple Road 60 in Subhanpura. It’s a small shop, mostly taken up by the glass counters where we keep the phones and all the colorful plastic cases. I spend most of my time hunched over a small desk with a magnifying glass, trying to fix screens or cleaning out charging ports that have stopped working. The street outside is always crowded because of the temple nearby, so there is a lot of honking and people walking past the window. We sell top-up cards and some basic accessories like cables and earphones that people lose all the time. The light in the shop is a bit too bright, but it helps when you are looking at tiny screws that are smaller than a grain of rice. Sometimes customers get frustrated when their phone takes a few days to fix because we have to wait for a part to arrive from across town. We keep a notebook to write down everyone's name and what’s wrong with their device. It's a bit old-fashioned but it works for us. My brother handles the customers while I do the technical stuff in the back corner. The air conditioner works when it wants to, so we usually keep the door open to get a breeze. It's just a regular local mobile shop trying to keep up with all the new models coming out every month.
