Maharaja Art Studio

Raopura is always moving and very crowded. Our studio is located right there, across from Jubilee Baug. It’s a very central part of Vadodara, so there’s always something going on outside our windows. We are also quite close to the Tarkeshwar Mahadev temple, so on certain days, you can hear the chanting and the bells very clearly. Maharaja Art Studio isn't a large place. It's more of a cozy corner where we keep all our supplies and works in progress. The floors are a bit creaky and the walls are filled with bits of sketches and notes we’ve pinned up over time. It’s not the kind of place where everything is polished and shiny. We like it that way because it feels more like a real workspace. When the afternoon sun hits the street, the whole area gets a certain glow. We usually have a tea from the guy on the corner around four o'clock. It’s a routine that’s hard to break. People walking through Raopura often poke their heads in just to see what we are working on. We don't have a big reception desk or a secretary. If the door is open, we are usually just in the back somewhere working. It’s a bit messy with frames and canvases leaning against the walls, but that’s just the reality of an art studio in the middle of a busy city like this one.
