Laxmi Mobile Care

Laxmi Mobile Care is located right at G-1 in Barve Nagar, Vadodara. It’s more of a neighborhood spot than a big retail outlet you'd find in a mall. Most of the people who come in live right around the corner or in the nearby residential blocks. We’ve become a bit of a landmark for folks looking to get their screens replaced or just to buy a new pair of cheap earphones. The shop isn't very large, but we’ve managed to fit a good amount of stock into the wooden cupboards. I spend most of my time sitting at the back under a bright lamp, looking through a magnifying glass at circuit boards. It’s quiet work, but I like it. Sometimes the neighbors stop in just to say hello or ask about a weird message they got on their screen that they don't understand. We don't have any big corporate rules here; if someone is short a few rupees, we usually tell them to bring it by tomorrow or next week. It feels more like a community than a business sometimes. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, and the floor tile near the door is a bit cracked, but it doesn't bother anyone. We keep the doors open to let some air in, even though it gets a bit noisy with the local kids playing cricket outside. It’s a steady life, keeping the local phones running and making sure everyone has what they need for their devices.
