Larsen Toubro Limited is located at No 31 in the Santham Estate in the Subhanpura area of Vadodara. Being based in an estate like this is very practical for us. It means we have plenty of space for the trucks and the heavy equipment to move in and out. The office itself is a plain building where we do all our planning and administrative tasks. We’ve been operating in Gujarat for many years and this location works well for us. We don’t have any extra frills or fancy furniture in the office. The walls are mostly bare and the chairs are just for sitting and working. We spend a lot of time coordinating with different construction sites across the whole region. There is always something going on in the estate so it stays quite lively. We have a small group of people who take care of the billing and the schedules for our workers. It’s a lot of detail-heavy work but we’ve been doing it long enough that it’s second nature. We don’t bother with any big marketing stuff. We just let the things we build speak for themselves. If a problem comes up at a site, we just sit down here and figure out a solution. It’s a very hands-on way to run a business. We make sure safety rules are followed and materials arrive on time. It is a straightforward operation.
