About Kiran Art & Gallary – Art & Craft in Vadodara
Raopura is where we are located, specifically in Jivabhai Park 2. It’s a quieter part of the area compared to the main markets. Kiran Art & Gallary isn’t one of those high-end places with white walls and fancy lights. We have a lot of frames leaning against the walls and the smell of wood shavings is usually in the air. Most days are spent measuring out glass and cutting pieces of wood to fit whatever someone has brought in. It might be an old photo of their grandfather or a painting they bought on a trip. There’s always a bit of sawdust on the floor no matter how many times we sweep it up. We have some art on display, but it’s mostly things we liked or stuff that local people wanted to show. The light comes in through the front window in the morning and hits the glass frames, which makes it hard to see for a bit. It’s a slow process, getting the corners of a frame just right so they don’t have gaps. Sometimes people come in just to look around and we don’t mind that at all. We use a lot of tape and glue, and my hands are usually a bit sticky by lunch. It’s not a big operation, just a small space where we work on things one at a time. It stays fairly peaceful here except for the sound of the saw every now and then. We take our time to make sure everything is done right.
