Kalarav Gift & Ladies Item is a local shop at 23 Panchayat Shopping Centre. We are situated near the Pani Taki at Channi Naka, which is a landmark that everyone around here uses to give directions. Our shop is filled with things that ladies in the neighborhood often look for, plus a good variety of gifts for different occasions. I wouldn't say we are a big store, but we try to keep a bit of everything so people don't have to travel far. The shopping centre is usually busy in the evenings when everyone is out doing their chores. I spend a lot of my day chatting with the other shopkeepers or helping a customer find a specific type of thread or a small gift box. The shelves are quite high, so I often have to use a stool to reach things for people. It’s not a fancy place with air conditioning, just a few fans that hum all day long. Sometimes the stock takes a while to arrive, and we have empty spots on the shelves for a day or two. It’s just me and a helper most of the time, so we do everything from cleaning the floor to keeping the accounts. We’ve been at Channi Naka for some time now and we've gotten used to the rhythm of the place. It’s a steady life, just running the shop and being part of the local community at the Panchayat Shopping Centre.
