Hotel Surya Palace

Our place is Annapurna Niwas, over at 33/A in the Race Course Society. We are located right behind Hariom Nagar in Vadodara. It’s a decent area and fairly easy to find once you get into the neighborhood. We’ve been running things here for a while now. It’s more of a traditional setup. We don't have those automated check-in kiosks or anything like that. You just walk in and talk to whoever is behind the counter at the time. The building has its quirks, like any older place in Gujarat, but it’s home for us. We spend a lot of time making sure the rooms are aired out and the linens are clean. The kitchen starts early in the morning, and you can usually smell whatever is cooking if you're in the lobby. We aren't part of some big international chain. It’s just us doing our best to provide a place for people to stay. The 390023 area is pretty central, so we get a mix of people staying with us. Some are here for weddings and others are just in town for a few days. We don't try to impress people with gold-plated anything. We just provide the basics and try to be helpful when someone asks for a recommendation on where to eat or how to get a rickshaw. It's a simple business and we like it that way. We keep the registers by hand and keep the place tidy.
