Our little spot is right across from the old Navarang Talkies compound in Vadodara. It’s a busy area, lots of people moving around. We’ve been doing art and sign work here for a long time. Mostly it’s just us with some brushes and paint, or whatever materials the customer needs for their project. The shop usually smells like paint thinner and wood dust. It’s a bit cramped inside because we keep every scrap of board or canvas we think we might use later. You can’t just throw things away in this business. We do a lot of hand-lettering and some bigger display pieces too. Sometimes a client comes in with a rough idea on a napkin and we have to figure out how to make it look decent. It takes time. We don't rush through the work because if you mess up a line, you have to start all over again. The neighbor’s dog usually barks when someone walks in. We’re used to it. The light in the afternoon is the best for seeing the colors right. People know us for just getting the job done without much talk. It’s a quiet life mostly, just focusing on the details of whatever is on the workbench today. We don’t have a big staff, just a couple of us who know how to handle a brush. We like the work and just keep it simple.
