Gurudev dining hall

You will find Gurudev dining hall right on the main road over in Fateganj. It is a busy part of Vadodara and the 390002 area always has something going on. The dining hall is a plain room with long tables and chairs that have seen better days. We don't have any air conditioning so the windows stay open to the main road. You can hear the scooters and cars passing by while you sit. It is not a place for a quiet romantic dinner. It is for eating and getting back to work. We start the day early by cleaning the big pots in the back. The kitchen smells like spices and steam most of the time. Fateganj has a lot of people coming and going so we see different faces every hour. We don't have a fancy menu printed on thick paper. We just tell people what we made for the day. Sometimes we run out of things by the afternoon. The floor is made of old tiles that we mop a few times a day because of all the feet coming in from the dusty road. Gurudev dining hall is just a simple business. We don't have a mission statement or anything. We just serve the food and make sure the water jugs are full. It is just how things are done here in Vadodara. It’s a bit noisy and a bit crowded but it works for us and the people who visit.
