We’ve been here at D/61 Bhagyalaxmi Society on Samta Road for a good while now. It’s a typical Vadodara neighborhood, pretty quiet mostly, except for when the school buses go past in the mornings. Our office isn’t anything fancy, just a few desks and some old maps on the walls that we probably should update one of these days. People from the society often just walk in to ask about train timings or bus routes to places like Ahmedabad or Mumbai. We spend a lot of our day on the phone or staring at the computer screen trying to figure out ticket bookings. Sometimes the internet acts up and we just sit there chatting about the local news until it comes back. It's a small team here, just two or three of us usually. We know most of the people who live nearby because they’ve been coming to us for years. It’s just how it is in this part of town. You get used to the routine of checking schedules and printing out papers. The chai guy from around the corner knows exactly when to bring our tea without us even calling him. We like the spot we have because it’s easy for everyone to find. There’s no big sign or anything, just the address on the door. It feels more like a part of the neighborhood than a regular business office. We just keep things moving and try to help folks get where they need to go without too much fuss.
