Allied Watch & Electronics

Allied Watch & Electronics is our little shop located at Suharna Kunj on Mahant Road in Vadodara. We have a mix of old-fashioned watches and some newer electronic gadgets on display. The shop has a specific sound to it, with all the different clocks ticking at the same time, though they are rarely all perfectly synced. We spend hours hunched over a workbench with a magnifying glass, trying to get a tiny gear back into place or replacing a battery that has leaked. It’s delicate work and your eyes get tired after a while. We also sell some basic electronic items that people in the neighborhood often need, like remote controls or wall clocks. The shelves are a bit mismatched because we added them at different times over the years. We get all sorts of people coming in, some with expensive watches they’ve had for decades and others just looking for a cheap replacement band. Sometimes we can't fix a watch if the parts aren't made anymore, which is always a bit sad to tell the owner. We don't have a website or anything like that; we just rely on people walking past or hearing about us from their friends. It’s a quiet life for the most part, surrounded by the sound of time passing. We just keep doing what we know how to do, one watch at a time, every day.
