Allianz Infocom is based on the third floor of the Race Course Post Office Building. To be honest, the building is a bit older, and the stairs are usually the faster way up since the lift can be quite temperamental. We’re in room 301. Inside, it’s mostly just us and a bunch of computers and networking gear. It’s not some polished tech company you see in magazines. There are cables running along the floor and stacks of old manuals that nobody ever reads anymore. The view from the window is mostly the roofs of other buildings and the busy street below. You can hear the post office staff working downstairs if it's a quiet morning. We do a lot of work related to information and communication, mostly just helping people sort out their tech issues. The office can get a bit stuffy when we have all the machines running, so we keep the windows open when the weather allows. It’s a lot of sitting and typing, and the occasional frustration when a server doesn't want to behave. We’ve been here for a good while, so we’ve gotten used to the quirks of the building. Sometimes the mailman comes up to say hello or drop off a package. There isn’t much in the way of decoration, just a couple of plants that I forget to water and some old calendars. It’s just a practical place to work and get things done without any of the fancy corporate stuff.
