Adarsh Higher Secondary Hindi School

We’ve been here in Fateganj for a long time now. Most people around Vadodara know where we are, right near the main road. The building is older, but it works for us. We mostly teach in Hindi because that's what the families around here need. In the mornings, you can hear the kids doing their assembly from the street. It’s a bit noisy with the traffic outside, but once you’re inside the gates, it feels like its own little world. The classrooms have high ceilings and those big fans that click a bit when they're on high. We don’t have fancy stuff like some of the new private schools, but the desks are solid and the teachers actually show up and do the work. A lot of the staff have been here for ten or fifteen years, so we all know each other well. Sometimes parents who used to come here now bring their own kids back. It’s nice to see that. We spend a lot of time just keeping things running, fixing a leak here or painting a wall there when there’s a bit of extra money. It isn't a perfect place, but it's where the kids come to learn and get through their exams. We try to keep things simple and just focus on the books. Life in the school starts early and ends when the afternoon heat gets too much. That’s just how it goes here.
