Absolute Systems

Dandia Bazar always has a lot of movement, and our spot at 102 Albert Victor Road is right in the middle of it. Absolute Systems is a name on a board outside that’s seen better days. Inside, it’s mostly shelves filled with parts and some old monitors we use for testing things. The floor is made of that old grey stone that stays cool even when it is boiling outside. We spend a lot of time looking for specific cables in big plastic bins. It’s a lot of trial and error with some of the older systems people bring in. The traffic on Albert Victor Road is loud, so we usually have the back window open for some air. It’s a simple setup. We have a small table where we keep the kettle and some biscuits for the afternoon break. People come in with things that stopped working and we try to see why. There is no reception desk or someone in a suit. Just us in our regular clothes, usually with some ink or dust on our hands. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we never seem to get around to it because there is always something else to fix. It feels like a workshop more than an office. We like the way the light comes in through the front door in the morning before the sun gets too high.
