You will find us at 15 Bhatiyani Chohata, inside the Daneriya Ki Haweli. We are right near Meera Park, which is a nice place to sit when we need a break from the glass. Working with glass inlay is a very specific kind of job. It takes a lot of patience and your eyes get tired after a few hours. The Haweli itself is an old building with a lot of character, which fits the kind of work we do. We spend our days cutting small pieces and fitting them together. It’s a lot of sitting and focusing. Sometimes the shop is quiet and other times we have the radio playing in the background. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who know the craft. It isn't a job you can rush. If you try to go too fast, the glass breaks and you have to start over. We have heaps of different colored glass stored in the back. The light comes through the windows in the afternoon and makes everything look bright. It’s a bit dusty because of the grinding, but we are used to that. We just focus on the task at hand. People who walk by the park sometimes stop in to see how it’s done. We don't have much to show them other than our hands covered in dust and the pieces we are working on. We just stay here in the Haweli and keep at it.
