Sriram Machine Tools

I’m down here at 1 Kamarajar Street most days. Gopal Naicker Nagar is a busy spot in Padi and the shop stays pretty loud with the machines running all the time. We’ve been at this address for a while now. Sometimes people have a hard time finding the turn-off from the main road, but once you’re on the street, you can usually hear us working. It’s not a fancy place, just a lot of metal and oil and tools scattered around where they need to be. We handle various machine tool jobs that come through the door. Most of the guys here live nearby so we just walk or bike in. The rain sometimes makes the street a bit messy, but that’s just how it goes in this part of town. I started Sriram Machine Tools because I knew how to work the lathes and milling machines and didn’t want to do anything else. We don’t have a big front office or a receptionist. If you come by, you’ll probably find me or one of the boys with grease on our hands fixing something. It’s practical work. We spend the morning setting up the jobs and the afternoons trying to finish them before the sun goes down. The neighbors know us well by now. We try to keep things moving. There’s always another part to turn or a tool to sharpen. It’s just what we do here in Padi day in and day out.
