Our fabrication workshop is located at 3B(NB) in the Sidco Industrial Estate in Ambattur. If you have ever taken a walk through Sidco, you know that the sound of welding and the smell of freshly cut metal is pretty much everywhere you go. We fit right into that environment. We do a lot of fabrication work here, which means we spend our whole day cutting, bending, and joining different metal pieces together. It is a messy kind of job, and our hands are usually stained with grease or soot by the time we finish up and go home. The workshop is not particularly large, so we have to stay organized with where we put the raw steel and the finished items so we have room to move. We have several welding machines that are almost always humming in the background. It gets incredibly hot in the peak of summer, especially with the welding torches going, so we have to drink a lot of water and take short breaks in the shade whenever we can. We have been in this spot long enough that we know most of the other shop owners on this block. Sometimes we end up borrowing a tool from a neighbor or helping someone move a heavy load with the trolley. It is a hard-working atmosphere, and there is no room for being fancy or worried about a bit of dirt. We just focus on making sure the metal joints are strong and the work is done right.
