Sri Sivananda Balalaya

If you head down Vayalur Mani Road in Somarasampettai, you’ll find Sri Sivananda Balalaya. It’s a school that’s been part of this Trichy neighborhood for quite a while. We aren't a massive institution with several branches, just this one place where we teach the local kids. The building is fairly standard, with classrooms spread out and a bit of open space for the children to play during their breaks. We have a routine that we stick to every day. The bell rings, classes start, and then there’s a rush for lunch. Our teachers are mostly from around this area, so they know the families well. It makes things easier when we need to talk to parents about how their children are doing. We focus on the regular subjects like math, science, and languages. The library is small, but it has enough books to keep the kids reading. We don't have a giant auditorium, so most of our events happen in the main courtyard under the shade. It gets quite hot in Trichy, so we try to keep the rooms as cool as possible with fans. People know us as a quiet place that just goes about its business of teaching. We don't do much advertising; word of mouth from the neighbors usually brings in new students. It’s a simple school, and we like it that way because it feels like home to many of us who work here. We just try to provide a decent education to the kids.
