Up School Kandanassery

Located in the Kandanassery area of Thaikkad, our school serves the local kids who have finished their lower primary years and are moving up. It is a simple building that sits right in the heart of the community here in Thrissur. Most of our students walk to school from the nearby houses, so the gates are always busy at 9 AM. We have a small staff of teachers who have worked together for a long time and know the area well. The classrooms are basic, with wooden benches and plenty of chalk dust on the floors after a long day. We do not have any high-tech equipment, just the usual books and charts on the walls that we update every now and then. During the rainy season, the yard gets a bit muddy, but the kids do not seem to mind much as long as they can play. We spend our days going through the lessons and making sure everyone is keeping up with their homework assignments. It is a quiet life, mostly, except for when the bell rings for the afternoon break. We know the parents and even the grandparents of many of our students because people tend to stay in this area for generations. We are not doing anything revolutionary, just providing a place for the children to get their education close to home. Sometimes we have small events, which the whole village seems to show up for. It is just how things are at our school.
