Christ College Irinjalakuda

You can find us at the north end of Irinjalakuda in Thrissur. The college has been a part of this landscape for generations. It’s a large campus, and there is a lot of space for students to move around. We have these big, old trees that provide a lot of shade during the summer. The buildings are quite traditional, reflecting the style of this part of Kerala. Every morning, you see people coming in through the main gates, some on bicycles and many on foot from the local bus stop. It’s a busy place but it has a calm feeling to it. The staff knows most of the students by name. We don't really use much technology for the sake of it; things are still done in a very traditional way here. The library is usually quiet, filled with old books that have been handled by many hands. In the rainy season, the whole place smells like wet earth and old stone. We have a canteen that serves basic snacks and tea, which is where most of the talking happens. It’s not a corporate environment at all. It feels more like a big family where everyone is just trying to get through their courses. There’s always something happening, but it’s never too frantic. It’s just Christ College, a regular fixture in the life of Irinjalakuda North.
