Aryabhatta College

Aryabhatta College is situated over in Puthenpally, near Guruvayur in the Thrissur district. We’re known locally as the College of Advanced Studies, though most people just use the main name. It’s a quiet enough area for a college, which helps the students focus a bit more on their books. The building is a bit older, but it serves its purpose well enough for the classes we hold here. We have a variety of courses, mostly focusing on things that help young people get a job after they finish. It’s not a fancy campus with huge sports fields, but we have the essentials. Most of our students come from the surrounding villages and towns in Kerala. The staff here are pretty down-to-earth; we spend a lot of time sitting in the office dealing with admissions and sorting out exam papers. It can get quite hot during the summer months, but we have fans in all the rooms to keep things moving. We don't do much in the way of big advertising; people usually hear about us through word of mouth from former students. It’s just a regular place where people come to get their degrees and move on to the next stage of their lives. We keep the gates open early and usually stay until the last administrative task is filed away for the evening. It’s honest work, and we like being part of the Guruvayur community without making a big deal out of it.
