Thiruthuraipoondi Sembaalai Farmersproducer Company Limited

We are based in a small place called Korukkai Village in the Thiruthuraipoondi Taluk. Our main office is at No 2/54, Kp Illam, which is on Viraki Theru. It’s actually just a regular house where we handle the company’s affairs. We are a group of farmers from the Thiruvarur area. We decided to work together as a producer company to make things a bit easier for everyone. Our focus is mostly on the Sembaalai rice variety. It’s a local grain that has been grown here for a long time. The street we are on, Viraki Theru, is usually very quiet. You might see a few cows or goats wandering past the door. We spend most of our time in the paddy fields and only come to Kp Illam to settle accounts or have meetings. We don't have any corporate polish here. We sit on wooden benches and talk about the water levels and the market prices. Being from this district, we know how the soil behaves. Some years are better than others. We don't have any big mission statements. We just want to grow our rice and sell it without too much trouble. If you’re looking for us, just ask any local person for the farmers' company at Kp Illam.
