Pothencode Farmers Producer Company Limited is situated on the first floor of Sreesailam in Pallippuram. We are a group of farmers who decided to organize ourselves better. Being on the first floor gives us a bit of a view of the street, which is nice. It is a straightforward office with some wooden tables and a lot of registers. We spend a lot of time here discussing crop prices and what the members need for the next season. Pothencode is a place where people still care about the land, so we fit right in. We don't have any fancy technology or a big corporate structure. It’s mostly just us sitting around and figuring out the best way to move our produce. Sometimes the office gets loud when there is a disagreement about something, but we always work it out. That's what happens when you have a lot of farmers in one room together. We handle the paperwork for the producer group and make sure everyone gets their fair share. It is a lot of work and sometimes it feels like we are drowning in forms. But we keep at it because it’s our business. If you walk up the stairs at Sreesailam, you’ll find us there most mornings. We are just local people trying to make a living from the soil and helping our neighbors do the same with their own crops.
