Our spot is at the Vfpck Cochin Premises, specifically at PP-1/467/A in the Perumpazluthoor Panchayat area. Neyyattinkara Mythri Sks Farmers Producer Company Limited is basically just a group of us trying to make sense of the market. It’s a bit noisy around here sometimes because of the traffic, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We spend our hours mostly dealing with the logistics of what the farmers are bringing in. The building itself is nothing special to look at, just a practical space where we can store some things and keep our records straight. Some of the guys have been farming around Neyyattinkara since they were kids, so there is a lot of old knowledge floating around the office. We don’t really do anything flashy. It’s just about getting the work done and making sure everyone gets their fair share. Sometimes the tea guy is late and that’s the biggest drama of the morning. We have a lot of folders stacked up and the phone rings more than we’d like, usually someone asking about price shifts or transport. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons, so we try to get the heavy lifting done before the sun is right overhead. Being part of the panchayat community means we see the same faces every day, which makes the hard work feel a little more like home. We just keep our heads down and handle the daily tasks.
