Jaivabhoomi Organic Farm

Getting things to grow right in Pozhiyoor takes a lot of patience. The soil here has its own way of doing things and the sea breeze can be a bit much sometimes. We are located near the end of the road, and it is usually pretty quiet except for the birds and the sound of the tools hitting the ground. We started this farm because we wanted to see if we could do things the old way, without all the chemicals people use nowadays. It is hard work, honestly. My back usually aches by the time the sun goes down and my hands are always stained with dirt. We have a small shed where we keep the seeds and the basic tools we need. There is a Post Box number 695513, but most people just find us by asking around the village. We do not have a big sign or a paved driveway. During the monsoon, the ground gets real soft and we have to be careful where we walk. Some seasons are better than others. Last year the rain came too late and we lost a good bit of the crop. But you just start over and try again. It is just us out here, a few workers and the plants. We don't use any big tractors, just small stuff and our own strength. It is a basic life, but it feels okay to work the land this way.
