Hebron School

Down in Vannarapettai, right here in Ooty, you’ll find us tucked away. The weather is usually cool, so the kids often wear their sweaters even inside. Hebron School isn't a massive place, but it fills up fast when the bell rings. We’ve got a few rooms and a small space for the staff to sit. It gets a bit foggy some mornings, making it hard to see the gate from the main entrance. We spend a lot of time just keeping the place tidy because of all the rain we get up here in the hills. The floors are a bit worn down from years of boots walking over them. We don't use much technology, mostly just chalkboards and notebooks. It’s quiet enough during the lessons, except for the occasional car horn from the street. Lunchtime is when it gets loud, with everyone eating their tiffins out on the benches. We’ve been part of this neighborhood for quite some time, so most neighbors know the teachers by name. It’s a simple setup. We don’t do big events or anything flashy. Usually, it’s just the daily grind of math and language. Parents drop their kids off and we make sure they stay busy until the afternoon. It’s a steady routine that doesn’t change much from year to year. We like it that way. It keeps things predictable for everyone involved in the school and makes the day go by smoother.
