About Lawrence Public School – Education in The Nilgiris
We've been here in Lovedale for a long time. Being right near the bus stop in Ooty means there's always something going on outside our gates, with people coming and going. It's usually a bit chilly in the mornings, especially when the mist rolls in over the hills, so we often start the day in sweaters. Most of us here have grown used to the quiet life in this part of the Nilgiris. Lawrence Public School itself is a sturdy old place. We spend a lot of time just keeping up with the daily stuff, making sure the classrooms are ready and the grounds aren't too overgrown from all the rain we get. It isn't a fancy setup, but it works for the families around here. Kids come from different spots, some walking and some taking the bus right to that stop nearby. We focus on the basics. There's plenty of space for them to run around when the weather is clear. Sometimes the bells don't ring exactly on time if we're distracted by something, but we get through the lessons. It's a simple routine. We try to keep the place looking decent, though the damp mountain air makes everything age a bit faster than it would in the city. People know where to find us. If you're heading toward the bus stop, you can't really miss the building. It’s just how things have always been around here.
