Living and working out here on High Way Road means you get used to the constant sound of trucks and cars passing by at all hours. The campus is spread out, and you can see the buildings from a distance before you even reach the main gate. It’s a lot of walking for everyone involved, from the students heading to their morning lectures to the staff checking on the maintenance of the grounds. The wind picks up quite a bit across the open spaces between the blocks, often blowing dust onto the windows which we try to keep clean. There are these long corridors that seem to go on forever, and during the breaks, they get filled with the sound of hundreds of people talking at once. It’s a different kind of quiet when classes are in session, almost like the whole place is holding its breath. We have trees planted along the paths, but they are still growing, so there isn't much shade yet during the hottest part of the day. The canteen is usually the loudest spot, smelling like coffee and fried snacks, where everyone gathers to sit on the plastic chairs and catch up. It’s a massive place to manage, and things are always being fixed or painted somewhere. We just go about our business, making sure the gates are open on time and the lights are working in the halls for the evening shifts.
