sk Plastic Granules

Shilphata is a busy place and that’s where we are. We work with plastic granules here at sk. It’s not the cleanest job in the world, to be honest. There is always a smell of plastic in the air and a lot of dust from the machines. We spend our days sorting through different types of plastic and grinding them down into these small pellets. These granules go to other factories to make all sorts of things you use every day. It’s heavy work, moving the big sacks around. My back usually aches by the end of the shift. The yard is usually full of piles of scrap waiting to be processed. We don’t have a fancy office with air conditioning. We just have a small corner with a table and a few chairs where we eat our lunch. The trucks are constantly coming in and out of the area because Shilphata is a major hub for this kind of stuff. It gets very noisy with the traffic and the machines running all at once. We’ve been doing this for a few years now. We learned everything on the job, mostly by making mistakes and fixing them. It’s just a few of us here trying to make a living. We don’t really think about the big picture, we just focus on the bags we need to fill today. If the machines break, we fix them ourselves. That’s just how it goes around here. We keep the gates open for the breeze.
