Milan Palace

Down here in Bhayander East, things move pretty fast. Our place, Milan Palace, is right on W 15. It’s a tall enough building and we’ve been part of this neighborhood for a good bit of time. People often come here when they have a family thing or just need a room for the night. I’ve lived around here long enough to know everyone on the block. The hallways can get a bit echoey when kids are running around, but usually, it’s just the sound of the fans. We try to keep the floors wiped down, though with the dust from the street, it’s a constant job. I usually handle the bookings myself on a big paper ledger because the computer is too much trouble sometimes. We don't have a gym or a swimming pool or anything like that. It’s just rooms with beds and a place to sit. Some people stay for a week, others just a few hours to rest. I’ve seen a lot of faces come through that door. Sometimes we have to paint the walls again because of the humidity here. It’s a lot of work maintaining a big place like this, but we get by. The area is crowded, but once you’re inside, it’s okay. We just provide a spot for people to stay without any of that extra stuff they don't really need. We just keep the lights on for whoever shows up.
