There are a lot of women here in Kalappakulam Village who know exactly how to handle a farm. We decided to put our heads together at No.1607/A on Thasaiya Street. It’s not just one person doing everything; it’s a whole group of us from the Sankarankovil area. Most of us grew up watching our parents in the fields, so it felt natural to do this. We handle the planting, the harvesting, and all the bits in between. Being a farmer isn't easy, especially when you have a household to run too. We meet up often to talk about the prices of things and which crops are doing okay. The office is just a simple place where we can keep our records and store some gear. You can hear the sounds of the village all day while we work. We aren't trying to be some big corporate entity. We are just local women trying to make sure our families have what they need. Some days the rain doesn't come when we want it to, which is stressful for everyone. But we help each other out. We share what we know and keep moving forward. It’s about the soil, the seeds, and the hard work we put in every single day. We are proud of what we do, even if it's just quiet work in a small post area, and we hope it helps out everyone in our little community.
