Kadayam Kalyani Ammal Farmer Producer Company Limited

Our office is located at 9/99A in Indira Nagar, over in the Kalyanipuram part of Ambasamudram. We are known as the Kadayam Kalyani Ammal Farmer Producer Company Limited. This part of Tirunelveli is where we all belong. We are a collective of farmers who wanted to have a bit more say in how our crops are handled. It is not a fancy operation by any means. If you come visit us, you will see a lot of people in lungis and saris talking about the price of rice or vegetables. We don't have air conditioning or plush chairs. We have wooden benches and a few ceiling fans that creak when they turn. The work is mostly about organizing what the local farms produce and finding ways to sell it without losing too much money. It is a tough business and sometimes we don't agree on everything. We have meetings that go on for hours under the shade of the trees or in our small office. We have been doing this for a while now. The name of the company comes from our local roots. We take pride in being from Ambasamudram. It’s a beautiful place but the work is tiring. We just keep moving forward, one season at a time, hoping for good rain and fair prices at the market. That is our life here in Indira Nagar. We just take it day by day.
