Vora Provision Store

Our shop sits at number 8 on the Singanpore Link Road. It is a busy spot because of the road, so there is always a lot of dust flying around. We spend a good part of the morning wiping down the jars of pulses and the bags of rice. We sell all the basic stuff you would need for a kitchen, like oil, spices, and big sacks of flour. The shop is quite deep, so the back is always a bit dark. We have shelves reaching all the way to the ceiling, and we have to use a wooden ladder to get things from the top. It is a bit shaky, so we have to be careful every time we climb up. People come in with their lists and we go around picking things out for them. Sometimes we run out of something like salt or a specific brand of soap, and we have to tell them to come back tomorrow. We keep a big ledger on the counter to write down what people owe if they pay monthly. It is a bit old-fashioned but it works for us. The heavy bags are a pain to move around, and our backs usually ache by the time evening rolls around. We have a small fridge for cold drinks, which is popular when it gets really hot in the summer. It makes a loud humming sound that we have just gotten used to over the years. It is just a normal provision store for the local families.
