Shree Umiya Traders

Bardoli is a busy place and being over here at Galemand 2 keeps us on our toes most of the week. Shree Umiya Traders isn’t one of those big modern offices with glass walls and fancy chairs. We have a lot of heavy sacks and wooden pallets taking up most of the floor space. It’s a bit of a maze to walk through if you aren't used to it. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we never seem to find the time to stop working long enough to do it. Mostly, we deal with other local businesses and farmers from around the area. The phone rings a lot and it’s usually someone asking about prices or when the next truck is arriving. Galemand is a bit of an older part of town, so the streets are narrow and it gets quite hot in the afternoons. We have a small table in the corner where we sit for lunch, usually listening to the radio or just the sound of the ceiling fan. It’s hard work, lifting and moving things all day, but it’s what we know. My hands are usually a bit dirty by the end of the shift. We don't really have any big speeches about what we do. We just open the gates in the morning and start working through the list of orders. That’s the reality of life at Galemand 2 for us and we just keep at it.
