Rajeswar Novelty

The shop is in the Krishna Complex, which is right near the vegetable market on A K Road. Because we are so close to the market, it’s always very crowded around here, especially in the mornings when everyone is buying their food for the day. You can smell the fresh vegetables and hear the sellers calling out their prices from our doorway. We sell a lot of small novelty items and things that people like to buy on a whim. The shelves are filled with colorful plastic things, stationery, and little gifts that catch the eye. It’s a small space, so we have stuff hanging from the ceiling and tucked into every corner we can find. We don't have a computer system or anything like that; we just use a simple notebook to write down what we sell. The floor is tiled but a few of them are cracked from when we dropped a heavy box last year. There is a small fan that wobbles a bit when it's on high speed, but it keeps us cool enough. We see a lot of mothers and children who come in after they finish their shopping at the market. It’s a lively place to work, even if it gets a bit chaotic with all the noise from A K Road right outside. We just keep the door open and wait to see who comes in next. Sometimes the neighbors come in just to chat for a few minutes.
