Pritam Kirana Store

Our kirana store is tucked away in Laya Falia in the Athwa area. It is part of the Tal Choryasi region. It is much quieter here than in the main city center. We have a lot of big glass jars filled with different kinds of lentils and spices. The smell is very strong when you first walk in. Most of our customers are women from the nearby houses. They come in to get their daily supplies and stay to talk for a bit. The floor is made of old stone that stays cool even in the summer heat. We have a wooden counter that has been worn smooth over many years of use. There are no fancy signs or bright posters here. We just have the things people need for their cooking. Sometimes we run out of something and I have to go to the wholesale market on my scooter. It takes a while because the traffic is bad. We don't use any modern machines for weighing. We still use the old scales with the iron weights. It feels more natural that way. The light inside is a bit dim because we only have one bulb. People don't seem to mind. They know where everything is kept. It is a small business and we like it that way. No one is in a big hurry in this part of town. We just take things as they come.
