Ruby Diamond

Being based in Saiyedpura at the Nagoriwad Patidar Bhavan area makes for an interesting workday. Ruby Diamond is tucked into this busy neighborhood, and there is always something happening outside the door. If you know where Patidar Bhavan is, then you are pretty much there. We spend our hours looking at stones and dealing with the small details that most people wouldn't even notice. The light in the workspace has to be just right, so we are always adjusting the lamps. It’s not a huge office, just a practical room where the work gets done. Nagoriwad can get quite crowded with people walking through, especially during the festival times when the whole area near Patidar Bhavan is packed. We don’t really have a big showroom with mirrors and lights. It’s more of a place where we sit down and focus on the diamonds. Sometimes we have tea together in the afternoon and talk about the neighborhood gossip or the weather. It’s a local business through and through. We’ve been here long enough that we know the street sounds by heart. It’s a bit cramped sometimes, but we make it work and we like being part of the Saiyedpura community. There is always work to be finished before we can lock up for the night and head home through the narrow streets, which are always full of life and people.
