Running Mahadev Battery Sales & Service in the Surat 31 area is basically what our lives revolve around every single day. It is not exactly a glamorous job, but it keeps us busy and keeps the lights on. Our shop is located in a spot where there is always some kind of noise or activity going on right outside the door. We see a lot of people coming in with dead batteries, and they are usually looking a bit frustrated because their vehicle or their home power stopped working suddenly. We try to help them out as quickly as we can without making a big fuss or using complicated talk. The shelves in the back are packed tight with different units and sometimes it takes us a minute to find the exact one needed. Our hands stay pretty dirty from handling the old battery cores and the acid jars. We do not have a big team of experts, just a few of us who have learned the trade by doing it for years. When the weather gets really hot in Surat, we drink plenty of tea and keep the shutters wide open for a bit of air. We have watched this neighborhood change quite a bit, but the shop stays much the same as it ever was. People know exactly where to find us if their inverter starts beeping or if their tractor simply will not crank. We do not bother with fancy displays or neon signs. It is more about having the right part at the right time.
